Rockstar's critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption will soon get its newest downloadable content pack, in the form of the Undead Nightmare DLC, which will be available at the end of the month, according to the company's newest announcement.

Red Dead Redemption was one of the surprise hits of the year, up until now, and introduced players to a stunning Western setting with an intricate story, great characters and wonderful adventures.

Now, after three DLC packs that were already released for the game, the title will soon receive a new one, in the form of the Undead Nightmare pack, which will introduce to Red Dead's world zombies and new single-player adventures for the main hero, John Marston.

"Undead Nightmare turns the world of Red Dead Redemption upside down," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. "The supernatural vibe and the return of some favorite characters create a whole new game inside an already incredible world."

After much teasing through videos and screenshots, Rockstar officially revealed that the Red Dead Undead Nightmare will appear on October 26 on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live online services, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, respectively.

Besides the new announcement, Rockstar also revealed that four new horses will be introduced in the game, each customized as the horses of the apocalypse, Pestilence, Famine, Death, and War.

When John Marston is on Death, a Shockwave will be emitted that causes the heads of zombies to explode, when he rides on Famine, a swarm of insects will follow him everywhere, and have everlasting stamina.

Pestilence has an extremely high pain threshold, meaning he will be able to survive even the toughest predicaments alongside Marston, while War will leave a trail of flames in his wake, burning anyone who touches it, alive or undead.

Undead Nightmare will add zombies to the world of Red Dead Redemption, and task John Marston with finding out what caused the undead to rise against the living.

Almost all aspects of the game will receive the zombie treatment, from the regular people to animals like bears of cougars, but you will be able to use new weapons like the Tomahawk or the Explosive Rifle.

A new multiplayer survival mode called Undead Overrun will also be introduced, forcing players to stay alive against the invading zombies.

Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare Pack will be available on October 26, and retail for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live and 10 U.S. dollars, 8 British pounds or 10 Euros, on the PlayStation Network.
