To make them better

As it was announcing less than stellar financial results for the last quarter, Take Two also let out some pieces of news related to the videogames that it planned to release in the near future.

The big news is that Red Dead Redemption and Mafia II are set to be delayed, in order to allow development studios 2K Czech and Rockstar San Diego more time to add an extra layer of polish on them.

The fresh dates for the videogames have not been nailed down but Red Dead Redemption and Mafia II are not scheduled to come out between November 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010.

Ben Feder, who is the president of Take Two, said that “We have a pretty stern policy at Take-Two about serving no wine before its time. We'll give it the time it needs. Our ability to move a title out into the year reflects how far Take-Two has come as far as diversity in our product line and flexibility.” He added that the two games would definitely not face another delay after the current one.

Red Dead Redemption is set to be a Western-themed game, taking place in 1908 and putting the player in the boots of a character that should bring the law to the wild areas of the frontier of the United States. Rockstar promises varied environments, exciting gun fights and realistic horseback riding physics powered by Euphoria.

The big disappointment is that Mafia II has been pushed back. Electronic Arts has already released The Godfather II, which was a bit underwhelming and left a lot of players hungry for some more Mafia-related action. The previews for the 2K Czech created title have been very good, showcasing a vivid city and interesting mission designs.
