Columbia Pictures releases red band trailer for zombie comedy “Zombieland”

In a post-Apocalyptic America, people do whatever they can to survive: keep moving, stay out of the way of all zombies, avoid getting infected by them and, of course, make inappropriate jokes at the most inappropriate times. “Zombieland,” a Ruben Fleischer-directed zombie comedy, promises to deliver amazing fun this October: and fans should take the just released red band trailer as a covenant of sorts.

“Zombieland” is not meant to be some blockbuster production that will get fans rushing to the cinemas, shoving and pushing their way to a ticket, several movie-oriented publications point out. In fact, although boasting several big names, like Woody Harelson, Abigail Breslin and Billy Murray, this zombie flick tries to be the complete opposite of, say, “Resident Evil” or “28 Days Later.” For starters, it’s a comedy, as the first red band trailer included below the article also shows beyond doubt.

The official synopsis of the film does not give away too many details but it’s probably safe to assume that seeing the trailer would offer a clear image of what fans are to expect. “In the horror comedy ‘Zombieland’ focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss – but when you’re afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying’ bad[die] whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.” Columbia Pictures says of the film.

“Zombieland” drops in US theaters in October this year but hype for it is already starting to build up especially on the Internet and especially with fans of the horror / zombie genre. Collider, for instance, says that, while “Zombieland” did not really cause waves of hysteria at this year’s Comic-Con (“Iron Man” and “New Moon” did more than plenty of that), it did establish itself as the kind of movie you would tell a friend about or even recommend.

“There also films like ‘Zombieland’ that are going to get some fantastic word-of-mouth off their time in Hall H and about 6,000 people are going to tell their friends that this may be another zombie movie, but it’s still worth your time. MySpace just threw the red-band trailer online and it’s an abbreviated version of what we saw at Comic-Con and will make you, dear reader, also tell your friends to see this movie. Hit the jump to fall in love with zombie-killing all over again.” writes the aforementioned movie publication.

Below is the first red band trailer for “Zombieland.” As usual, caution is advised for it includes images of graphic violence and some strong language.
