Piriform launched today a new update for Recuva, their file recovery utility. The fresh build is 1.49 and features changes that increase its overall functionality.

First on the list, the developer announces that the new revision has support for multi-session UDF (Universal Disk Format); this type of file system is not uncommon among external drives.

Also new is support for Unicode character handling to file list export.

Recuva 1.49 should perform better when scanning FAT partitions and when it comes to detecting drives with mounted junction points. Furthermore, it can detect PST files (personal folders in Microsoft Outlook) and touts better email filtering.

The developer informs that keyboard navigation has been improved and that minor bug fixes and enhancements relating to the GUI have been performed. However, there are no specifics about the glitches that affected the application.
