Apple is reportedly building a seventh-generation iPod nano to throw in a new form factor with an elongated body, as opposed to the square-ish design of the current nano, as well as a Home button, hinting at the possibility of an iOS infrastructure.

This so-called leak comes by word of mouth which Japanese blog Macotakara is happy to report on. Their source said (translation) “[the] new iPod nano style will be back to oblong style, not square shaped.”

The report adds that “[the] case size seems to become smaller in 3 quarters than iPod nano (5th generation), and thickness seems to be thinner than iPod nano (6th generation)'s body without back-clip.” Finally, the 7th-gen nano is said to boast a Home button, and that the click-wheel input is not coming back.

If the device looks anything like the mockups above, Apple would undoubtedly throw a full-fledged version of the iOS.
