Recording of Daniele Watts incident shows police was not being abusive towards her

Over the weekend, the media went wild at a potential racial scandal involving a Hollywood actress by the name of Daniele Watts, whom you might have seen in “Django Unchained.” The whole incident was very suspicious and it launched an internal investigation in the LAPD.

TMZ has obtained an audio recording from the incident, and surprisingly, it paints a very different picture than the one the actress and her boyfriend related on social media. Their account said that Daniele was roughly treated, handcuffed and shoved inside a patrol car when she refused to identify herself.

The actress was uncooperative so the police detained her

They even added photos of the incident, showing Daniele's cut wrist and suggesting that the police had slapped the cuffs on her rather harshly. It didn't take long for the public to become outraged by this police abuse and this triggered the LAPD to start an internal investigation on the case.

The whole thing started when someone called the police informing them that Daniele Watts and her boyfriend were engaged in lewd behavior inside their car, in broad daylight. The actress later claimed that she was fully clothed and only kissing her boyfriend, but eyewitnesses confirmed she was doing much more than that, which is why the police were called.

The audio revealed today shows that the police officer was not only polite, but also very well-spirited, trying to explain to Daniele what was going on and why she needed to give them her personal information.

The actress made a scene, first used the racial card to intimidate the police

Instead of identifying herself and trying to defuse the situation, the actress quickly flew off the handle and started making a scene. It's not long before she plays the race card, telling the officer that this would never have happened if she was white.

Taken by surprise by this reaction, Sgt. Jim Parker can be heard exclaiming in amazement that she would actually bring the racial argument into the discussion. The law enforcement officer was clearly not there because of a racial issue.

The next argument was the “do you know who I am?” speech

Seeing that the racial argument didn't work, the actress quickly moved to the fame card, giving the officer the “do you know who I am?” speech and threatening with her publicist. The officer seems calm throughout her rant and also unimpressed with the fact that she's an actress.

Quickly running out of arguments, Watts then tries to convince the officer to talk to her “daddy” with whom she was talking on the phone at the time. The audio shows the actress crying on the phone, expressing her grief about being mistreated by police.

The policeman refuses to talk to the father, despite the fact that Watts puts him on speaker phone, probably considering that he had nothing to do with the case. Meanwhile, Watts can be heard talking progressively louder on the phone, insisting that she had the right to sit on the street corner and make out with her boyfriend.

In the end, one can't shake the feeling that if Watts had cooperated from the start, the whole incident could have been avoided. Even the cop tells the boyfriend in the end, “I'd already be gone, just so you know,” indicating that he had already made up his mind that no crime had been committed.

The actress has not yet released an official statement after the recording made its way in the media.
