Streaming Networks and NXP Semiconductors have released the iRecord Pro, an innovative personal media recorder that records video and music content onto portable media players such as Apple's iPod and iPhone, as well as Sony's PSP. The product uses direct recording to computer hard disk, and is also able to convert existing content to media player format without a computer.

According to Streaming Networks, iRecord Pro is the next
generation of iRecord, as it builds on the functionality of the first-generation iRecord by adding full D1 video resolution, direct recording to computer hard disk, and the ability to convert existing content to PMP format without the need of a computer. iRecord Pro is most distinguishable thanks to its ability to record directly an iPhone or iPod touch. High resolution H.264 recording, direct recording to PC/Mac, streaming, MPEG-2/MPEG-1 transcoding, duration recordings, scheduled recordings and lossless audio recording are also among the main features of this device.

"By leveraging the power of NXP media hardware and Streaming Networks patented software technology, we are able to bring cutting edge professional quality video and audio encoding to mainstream consumers in a small, low cost device," said Dr. Ayub Khan, CEO and President of Streaming Networks. "Great for technophiles and luddites alike, iRecord Pro is consumer friendliness at its best, offering a choice at how they view their media and delivering the promise of next generation consumer devices and media convergence today."

Users can connect their respective portable device to the Mac and simultaneously watch or listen to what is being recorded. Also, data can be streamed to another computer for vieweing / listening, during the process of recording to the portable device. Streaming Networks' iRecord Pro also supports full resolution D1 (720x480) video encoding, as well as WAV & FLAC lossless audio recording and can transcode MPEG2 content to H.264.

iRecord Pro is available for $259.99.

I have used the iRecord for about a month now and the detail that is given in the video is the best that i have seen. I have used other products that convert movies to watch on my iPod. This has produced the easiest way possible and has given the best quality.
