If you thought that going a few days without a shower was the worst thing that could happen to anyone, imagine not washing at all for 60 years, and also living in a hole in the ground. Now, it cannot actually get worse.

As bizarre as it sounds, Amou Haji believes cleanliness would make him fall ill and he avoided washing himself for three whole decades. Whenever he needs a haircut, he burns his locks of hair with fire and when it is time to go home, he crawls into a hole in the ground.

The 80-year-old man lives in a small village called Dejgah in Southern Iran, and he has managed to make a house in an open brick shack that kind-hearted and worried locals built for him, or just sleeps in a hole in the ground, notes Sunday World.

If this was not shocking enough, Amou spends his days smoking animal feces and eating rotten meat, while wearing the latest fashion in the rags department. It is believed Mr. Haji has beaten the previous record of going the longest period of time without washing by almost 25 years.

He spends his time eating rotten porcupine meat, drinking water from a rusty oil can and relaxes himself by pipe smoking animal feces instead of tobacco. With his face almost fully covered in dirt and his beard looking more gray than white, the man amazes people with a long life despite extreme ways of survival.

The Iranian senior hates water and soap and just the thought of taking a bath frightens him, preferring to avoid such “extreme habits” for 60 years. Locals, that have grown to accept and pity the man, believe he may suffer from some emotional trauma about water or even baths, from his early youth.

Amou claims that his last bath was in 1954 and, despite his extreme lifestyle and somehow impossible ways, the man lived longer than many people with excellent health and strict hygienic habits, and access to clean water and healthy food.
