Receiver, a first-person shooter created with the Unity engine, featuring a unique gameplay concept, is now available for Linux.

According to its developers, Wolfire Games, Receiver was created for the 7-day FPS challenge to explore gun handling mechanics, randomized levels, and unordered storytelling.

This means that the players will have to uncover the secrets of Mindkill, in a randomly generated level, armed with only a Colt 1911 and a cassette player.

The novelty of this first-person shooter is the accurate gun mechanics implemented, starting with the fact that the player can control every part of the weapon.

There is no HUD, checking the ammo means removing the magazine and counting the bullets, and the main charters dies from mostly everything. There is no save and load system, just randomly generated levels.

Receiver can be purchased from the developer's site, and it's available for Linux, Mac OS, and Windows.
