For all those that were unsatisfied with the multiplayer demo's Deathmatch mode, Rebellion finally launched the full game yesterday, giving everyone a taste of the rest of its features. The single-player campaign may still be the title's main attraction, but Rebellion continues to push forward the multiplayer side of Aliens vs Predator, this time around focusing exclusively on the game's PC community. After having been launched without them, it looks like the AvP will get its dedicated servers back, as the developers have just announced that they're hard at work on them.

Posting on Steam's forums, Rebellion said that it would have a beta version of the build in just a few days, and that we'd be able to get it through Steam. "Rebellion are busy preparing the dedicated server for the Aliens vs. Predator community," the post read. "We hope to have a beta release with reduced functionality out in the next few days and further updates to improve functionality and fix bugs over the next few weeks. The files will be available to download from the "Tools" tab in the Steam client and will be a free download."

And while this might be great news, since everyone that tried the demo on the PC has already experienced the frustrating matchmaking and lobby service, with its greatest downside being by far the microphone glitch, that seems to insists on forcing us to listen to whatever happens in the house of the players that have a microphone hooked up to their PC. If anything, Rebellion could have at least added a simple "Mute" button in the menu, if it really wanted to make our life easier.

Something that remains pretty unclear, however, is how these dedicated servers will work on their own, if you decide that Steam is not something you want to get into. While the post was made on the official Steam forum, and it said that we'd be able to download the beta via Steam's "Tools" tab, there's no word yet as to how the final version will work, or if it will require Steam interaction.
