Actresses who are anything but rail-thin usually complain in interviews that their body shape is working against them when it comes to getting new roles. Funny gal Rebel Wilson doesn’t: in fact, she admits in a new interview that it was her weight that “made things easier.”

Rebel is plus-size and, as must be common knowledge, she’s one of the few plus-size actresses enjoying worldwide fame right now.

Far from blaming her weight for the difficulty with which she broke in the spotlight, Rebel credits it for her fame.

“One of the reasons my agents signed me is because I'm not like any other girl here,” she explains in an interview with the latest issue of InTouch magazine. The main reason would be, of course, her talent.

However, in an industry in which looks are everything, Rebel is a breath of fresh air because she stands out. Plus, the fact that she’s happy with the way she looks, having already sworn not to diet for Hollywood, makes her more relatable.

“I think most girls who are encouraged to come to LA and become actresses are usually the prettiest girls in their hometowns of Iowa or wherever. So not looking like anyone else has made things easier for me, because I'm distinctive,” the comedienne says.

Her relatability is what drives her popularity: people might like to look at pretty actors on the big or small screen but, at the end of the day, they also want to see someone they can relate to.

“There are so many glamorous actresses – but in the real world, nobody looks like that. I want to inspire girls who don't think they're cool or pretty. To do that, I need to put out a realistic version of what it's like to be a girl who looks like me. Sometimes that means getting broken up with by a dude who says, ‘You're too fat.’ That way, when my character wins, it's gratifying,” Rebel explains.

Fans can now catch Rebel Wilson in the TV comedy “Super Fun Night,” which premiered just recently.
