The Rebecca Sedwick case investigation is underway, and officials believe that the parents of the girl that bullied the 12-year-old into taking her old life should be charged.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd describes that their lack of involvement in the issue allowed the situation to escalate.

He has stated that, were they responsible, they would have laid out some form of punishment for the teens that tormented Sedwick, the AP reports.

Rebecca Sedwick's bullies have been arrested under felony stalking charges. 14-year-old Guadalupe Shaw is in police custody and 12-year-old Katelyn Roman is under house arrest.

Shaw talked Roman into trying to beat up Sedwick this year, and she faced a suspension from school. Her parents will probably claim that they have been unaware of the bullying.
