Rebecca Black Is Pulled from School for Being Bullied

Being the biggest YouTube star isn’t always a good thing, as Rebecca Black knows now. Following the release of her “Friday” video, which went viral in a matter of hours, the 13-year-old singer has been bullied non-stop at school – so she’s now being schooled at home.

In a new interview with ABC, Rebecca, who is getting ready for the release of her debut album, admits that bullying got so bad at school that her mother eventually decided to pull her out of it, TMZ reports.

Other kids would make fun of her because of “Friday” and it got to a point where she couldn’t stand it anymore.

“Rebecca Black was getting made fun of at school so much after ‘Friday’ came out – that her mother decided to pull her out and began homeschooling the singer,” the e-zine notes.

“When I walk by they’ll start singing ‘Friday’ in a really nasally voice... Or, you know, they’ll be like, ‘Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?’” Rebecca confirms.

Her mother, who is now overseeing her education at home, believes that the move will also help Rebecca focus properly on her music career, presumably because it will make her daily schedule many times more flexible.

Speaking of her music career, Black has a new single and video out: “My Moment” is her first release off her debut album, which should arrive in stores later this month.

While Friday didn’t have that much of a message – save Rebecca’s dilemma on which seat should she take in her friend’s car – “My Moment” is a look at her journey so far, from unknown to the most popular (and hated) name on the Internet.

The song also represents a stand against bullying, with Black singing to all those telling her she couldn’t that she was happy she didn’t let them bring her down.
