Never mind the haters – this seems to be the message Rebecca Black, the singer of the “Friday” fame / infamy, is sending in her latest single and video, “My Moment.” Check out the new release below, embedded at the end of the article.

As announced a short while ago, to prove that she’s a real singer and not just a wannabe celebrity with nothing but Autotune to back her up, Black chose a different kind of song as follow-up to “Friday,” her much-maligned debut single.

This was “My Moment,” described as Black’s journey from an unknown to an international superstar, a modern fairytale, if you will. The video matches the song.

Obviously with a bigger budget than “Friday,” the video for “My Moment” sees Black do the kind of things many teens can only dream of: she’s recording music in the studio, she’s rehearsing dance routines and, last but not least, she’s driving around Hollywood in a stretch limousine.

Unlike in “Friday,” this time, Black is no longer torn between which seat in the car she can take (should she sit in the back or in the front?): she’s in the backseat with her mother, who is holding her hand.

When they arrive at their destination – a movie theater with Rebecca’s name on it – she lets her daughter go, as she’s welcomed with cheers by photographers.

Dressed in a red prom gown, Rebecca is dancing and singing, and seems incredibly happy: her dream has come true and haters could do nothing to spoil her moment for her.

A while back, shortly after “Friday” became one of the biggest viral hits in recent years (but also the most hated), Black announced that her upcoming single would be “LOL.”

Eventually, she changed her mind, choosing “My Moment” as a more personal release. The lawsuit over the rights to her music may have also played a part in her changing her mind.

Without further ado, here is Rebecca Black’s “My Moment,” the new single and video. Enjoy.
