Realtek has just outed new packages that update all of its PCI Express and USB card readers to version 6.2.9200. The available drivers are compatible with both 32- and 64-bit versions of all of Microsoft’s Windows OSes (except the Server Core platforms).

Specifically speaking, the PCIe card readers that are updated by this new release are the RTL8402 and RTL8411 with a 6.2.9200.27038 driver, the RTS5229 with a 6.2.9200.29065 version, and the RTS5208, RTS5209, and RTL8401 devices with a 6.2.9200.28143 package.

As for the USB card readers that Realtek has updated, the RTS5159 and RTS5138 devices get the 30161 build version, and the RTS5139, RTS5129, and RTS5179 enjoy the benefits of the 39045 build number.

Although the installation process is simple, you should know that if it isn’t the first setup, the package will remove the original driver from your system, and only afterwards install the new one.

So, in the absence of an official release notes, that would be quite all I can highlight. Now, follow the link below, and from the list, choose the one that best describes your card reader.
