Country singer Miranda Lambert is joining the conversation on size 0 and how unrealistically skinny is the only way to go for women these days. In her Self interview, Miranda talks about body image and insists that she's at her most comfortable when she's working out and eating healthy, but not dieting.

Fans already know that Miranda isn't the one to mince her words, so kudos to her for telling it like it is when it comes to her own body and the way she feels she should look in the industry.

Unlike many other female stars, she hasn't succumbed to outside pressure to lose weight and, from what she's saying we can very well infer she doesn't intend to do so from now on.

“I don’t care about being stick-thin. I don’t want stuff to jiggle. Really skinny actresses make me hungry – I see them and think, Honey, you need to eat! I’m lucky I don’t have to live like that,” she says.

“I feel my best when I’m a toned, not flabby, size 8. Women come up to me and say, 'You’re beautiful and confident, and that makes me feel I can be, too',” Miranda explains.

Like most regular women, Miranda hates working out but she loves the results it has on her body. Right now, she's eating better than before, having cut out all unhealthy snacks and treats, but she still has her moments when she just lets herself go.

“I absolutely hate exercise. I love it afterward, of course. But my trainer is so nice, I want to do push-ups to please him!” she jokes.

The burger she would have after a show before is now a salad with grilled chicken; Cheetos have been replaced by healthy snacks like bananas and almonds.

Still, she believes every woman has the right to take some time off every now and then, but only on the condition she gets right back in the saddle once the break is over.

“It’s OK to be fat and lazy sometimes. But eventually you’re, like, Oh [hell] – I shouldn’t have done that! I gained about 10 pounds [4.5 kg] over the holidays, and when I got onstage in January, I realized I wasn’t feeling great. I didn’t have the energy or lung capacity I needed. It was a good idea to get strong again,” Miranda says.

“I won’t give up what I enjoy to look perfect. I want to find a happy medium between feeling good about my body and still having a beer and some barbecue,” she adds.

She also loves her ample posterior and wouldn't even dream of dieting it all off.
