It makes you wonder if people will start implanting horns

If you're not familiar with MakerBot even now, then you're about to get acquainted. The company is one of the premier names on the 3D printing market after all.

The latest move on its part is the ‘Storied Skulls’ collection of, you got it, 3D printed skulls.

It is made of a ram skull, a saber-toothed cat skull and even a dragon skull. Although with all the versions of dragons from folklore and fantasy fiction, not to mention board and video games, the skull probably isn't all that accurate.

Still, it's got the reptilian look, the fangs and the horns, so a dragon it must be. Logic is such a wonderful thing.

Interestingly enough, saber-toothed cats actually existed around 11,000 years ago, presumably. More importantly, you can get the model for free, and print it in around 8 hours on a normal printer.

Alas, the other two models will cost $7.99 / €6.28 when they get posted up for download.

The cat skull is made of 4 pieces that need to be individually created. The ram skull is made of 9 pieces and should take 12 hours to make. You'll probably need to take a few breaks and stagger it across several days if you have school and work. Unless you have someone at home to immediately prepare the printer for the next run and hit start.

Finally, the dragon skull is made of 5 pieces and takes 9 hours to be created.

In addition to downloading the models, you can order the printed skulls from MakerBot for $14.99 / €11.78. Or you will have the option in the near future.
