Bethesda has announced that those who pre-order its upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will get a special real life cloth map of the game's virtual world for free.
Pre-order incentives aren't something new, with many companies offering some sort of bonus if you put money down for their games before being out.
Some are pretty nifty while others cause quite a backlash from fans, including the recent
bonuses for Battlefield 3.
Bethesda has decided to take a higher road, and, instead of offering various trinkets inside the game or access to unique missions, it's going to offer a real life map of the
Skyrim world.
The company explained that Elder Scrolls players love to feel like they're part of the virtual world, and real life maps definitely add to the experience.
As such, those who pre-order Skyrim are going to receive a special item alongside their game for free.
"It’s a high-grade material that has a feel similar to burlap, and will be available in North America and European territories," the game developer and publisher revealed.
"There will be a regular paper map included in all copies of the game, but if you want to get the premium map, we recommend pre-ordering the game."
It doesn't matter the platform on which you get Skyrim, as pre-orders for the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 all qualify for this bonus map.
While many gamers would've preferred some unique items to be had in the game in exchange for their pre-orders, this real life map is even more interesting, especially because it arrives at no extra cost for the player.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be out on November 11, this year, for the aforementioned platforms, and a re-release of the previous game,
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, will be out next month, to mark the 5th anniversary of the game as well as to allow those that didn't play it a chance to engage in its adventures before Skyrim is out.
