The cast of the popular television series 'CSI: New York' had the surprise of their lives when a real dead body was found in an apartment situated two floors below the location where a new episode was shooting.
The Jerry Bruckheimer show is currently filming in Los Angeles and the producer chose as the perfect location for the episode the Pacific Electric Building, where scenes of 'Spider-Man' were also shot. While the crew was busy in setting up all the props, a building engineer entered Apartment 538, alarmed by the prevailing smell and by the fact that the tenant hadn't paid his rent in months.
A mummified body was discovered inside and the police were immediately called. Craig Harvey, chief investigator, said that the dead person, still referred to as John Doe, was known as suffering from lung cancer and depression and was suspected of using cocaine. An autopsy is underway as we speak, which is to determine the exact cause of death.
The main stars of 'CSI: NY', Gary Sinise and Melina Kanakaredes, were not on the set when the discovery was made. The rest of the crew did not get the chance to see a real corpse, and neither did Bruckheimer, as the scene was immediately sealed by police officers.
