Developer Ready at Dawn and publisher Sony have just announced that The Order: 1886 is at the moment delayed to February 2015, but the two companies still believe that the game is one of the most important for the future of the PlayStation 4 and are ready to give potential players more details about their vision.

Dana Jan, the game director working on the title, says that the PS4 represents a big leap in terms of computer power over the PS3 and that the studio is able to deliver the kind of graphics quality and world building that was not possible a few years before.

The developer tells CVG that, “We're always going to be bound by some limitations on the hardware side, but I really think it's gonna come down to creative people really pushing the envelope on what they think is the most important thing for them. So for us, conveying on the visual side - we wanted you to live in this world with these characters and just absorb and feel like there's no barrier to accepting our reality.”

The Order: 1886 is focused on the city of London during an alternate version of the Victorian age and that means Ready at Dawn is working to simulate complex locations and a lot of characters that will be more detailed than any other seen in video games.

Players will become a knight serving in a secret order that for centuries has been charged with fighting a race of half-human, half-monster creatures.

Even as more advanced weaponry makes the human side victorious, they have to deal with a new rebellion that threatens their core beliefs.

Ready at Dawn has suggested that for all the spectacle included in the recent trailers, it wants to create a deeply emotional experience with The Order: 1886.

Dana Jan adds, “Gameplay is something that... it's a game, we make games, we can't get around it. We love games, but we also love telling stories, so I think story is always going to be at the top because it's what we start with. It's at the top of the pyramid and everything else supports that.”

The PlayStation 4 is seen as more powerful than the rival Xbox One from Microsoft and Sony needs a string of exclusive releases in order to show customers the capabilities of the device.

The Order: 1886 will get more details and gameplay info during E3 2014.
