The F2P PvP game opens its doors to fans of the genre

Developer Psyonix has just announced that its Nosgoth game, which is still a work in progress, is going open beta beginning next week. The game derives from the Legacy of Kain series and it’s a free-to-play PvP game that plays from a third-person viewpoint.

The game is actually on Steam Early Access and it’s been in that state since March 2014. Unfortunately, judging from the players’ feedback, Nosgoth did not receive too many updates in the last year and those who were released only fixed minor issues, while the most important ones are still affecting the gameplay (like the matchmaking).

Anyway, there may be hope for Psyonix and their Nosgoth team-based PvP game, as the open beta has been set for January 21 and a new wave of players should be brought into the world plagued by hundreds of years of conflict and hatred between humans and vampires.

Are you going to choose Vampires over Humans?

It will be your choice to decide which side you want to be on, but be careful as each race and class has their own strong and weak points. While humans have a decent array of ranged weaponry and specialized equipment at their disposal, vampires mostly rely on physical strength, speed and supernatural abilities.

Given the fact that it’s a team-based PvP, communication is very important in Nosgoth, which is why a team of friends has more chances to win a match than a completely random group.

According to Corey Davis, the game’s director, the main goal for this open beta is “to deliver a fun and engrossing metagame.” It looks like developers have just realized that only working together with the community supporting Nosgoth will they be able to “balance and deepen the experience going forward.”

If you haven’t been aware that such a game that pits humans against vampires already exists and can be played, then you should definitely check out our Nosgoth quick look (video included).
