Defense of the Ancients aka DotA is one of the most popular custom made maps for Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. To allow you a better understanding of this complex and sometimes intricate game here is a hero guide.

Alchemist is one of the more versatile heroes in DotA, and is an especially deadly one now that his stun has been reworked. He's a Strength Hero and you can find him at the Neutral Tavern.

Let's find out a little more about his background: having enlisted under the ranks of the Sentinel for mere personal gain, the Alchemist's quest for amassing wealth to fund his research is a tireless and relentless one.

Both sadistic and cruel in his methods, this heartless Goblin cares not for the means he must resort to for a sizable bounty.

Whether he chooses to paralyze his foes with toxic concoctions or drench them in corrosive acids, Razzil Darkbrew remains steadfast in his calm, calculated approach, despite their constant wails of agony.

Though notoriously famed to be inhumane and savage in his actions, he succeeds in crippling the mighty Scourge with the vilest of elixirs.

He is able to be played as a tank/support and to a lesser extent carry/tank. And this depends on how you choose you skills or what items you buy first. There are three active skills and a passive one:

- Acid Spray ( shortkey D): releases high-pressure acid sprays across a target area. Hostile units that will step across the contaminated terrain will take physical damage per second and will have their armor reduced.

The toxic gas will only last for 16 seconds and cause 8/16/24/32 damage/second while reducing the armor by 3/4/5/6. One cool feature is that it will also affect magic immune units in a 775 area!

- Unstable Concoction (shortkey E): Razzil starts to brews up an unstable concoction that he then throws at an enemy hero, to stun for 1.75/2.5/3.25/4 and deal 120/180/240/300 damage.

Razzil can brew this potion for up to 5 seconds, each second increasing the potency of the concoction. After the 5 seconds, there is a small buffer window.

If Razzil does not throw the concoction soon after it will blow up and Razzil himself will suffer as if he was hit by the concoction. To prevent this you'll see a timer above the hero's head.

While brewing the concoction, Alchemist can still move around and take action. He will flash red while the concoction is brewing.

- Goblin`s Greed (shortkey G): this passive skill will help the Goblin convert the creep's corpses into gold. You get more gold for every extra creep you killed in the last 18 seconds: 2/4/6/8 gold for each enemy. The maximum amount is set at 18 gold.

Chemical Rage (shortkey R): with the help of chemistry the Alchemist will cause his Ogre to enter a rage reducing base attack cooldown and increasing hitpoints and regeneration. It will also slightly improve movement speed. This chemically induced rage lasts only 25 seconds.

This is a mean killing machine, especially when it comes to creeps so try to collect as much gold as you can, because you'll need it. An item that I find a must in this hero is the Radiance. This, in my oppinion must be rushed as fast as possible.

Try to become the dominant force on the lane. Keep in mind that you stay a threat since you have your powerful stun, and you become a bigger threat with your intensive farming.

Maxing out Acid Spray will intensify your farming and allow you to last hit much easier as well as harassing enemies in the lane (especially melee heroes).

Also think about the fact that in late games your presence will always be needed to the Travel Boots will be a must. The item will allow you to teleport to the fight immediately after you've solo-pushed a lane or just revived.

Alchemist is one of those heroes that can be built a few different ways. And it that versatility is his power. Also remember that as long as the cash flows, you'll be undefetead.
