Taking a break from all the Oscars 2012 coverage, you should probably be happy (or, at the very least, amused) to hear that the nominations for the most shameful and shaming movie awards, the Razzies, have been announced.

For the 2012 edition, which will announce its winners on April Fools' Day, we have a new record breaker, as the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation points out on its official webpage.

Adam Sandler is being called out for being so good at being bad, getting no less than 11 nominations for this year's Razzies.

In other words, he's nominated for more categories than the Razzies actually have, which means there's one category in which he'll be competing against himself.

“Leading the pack for Worst Picture is Sandler's cross-dressing comedy JACK & JILL, which received 12 nods in all (becoming only the 4th film in the Tacky Trophy's history ever to get more dings than the awards have categories),” the Foundation informs.

“Besides having the inside track to 'win' the top award, JILL is also contending for Sandler as Worst Actor (as male twin Jack) Katie Holmes as Worst Supporting Actress (playing Jack's wife) and former Oscar regular Al Pacino, nabbing his third RAZZIE nod for playing 'himself' as being madly in love with Sandler's female twin,” it further says.

Because he's playing brother and sister, Sandler also gets a nod for his take on the female role, that of Jill.

Other strong contenders at his year's Razzies include the usual suspects: “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” or, as the Foundation calls them “Trannies 3” and “Breaking Wind.”

Nicolas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman, Russell Brand and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have also made the cut.

The Razzies will announce the “winners” of its dubious distinctions on April 1, 2012, having switched the date from one day before the Academy Awards.
