Come awards season, one ceremony that most people in the movie industry do their best to avoid is the Razzies, known as the exact opposite of the Oscars for “celebrating” the worst moviegoers were treated to in the past year. Sandra Bullock though made a wonderful exception over the weekend, personally showing up to collect her award for worst actress of 2009, as Gather can confirm.

We were also telling you a while back that Bullock was in the running for worst actress together with Miley Cyrus for “Hannah Montana,” Sarah Jessica Parker for “Did You Hear About the Morgans?,” Beyonce for “Obsessed,” and Megan Fox for both “Jennifer’s Body” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” In being nominated for a Razzie, Bullock became the first actress to get both a nom for worst performance and one for best performance of the year at the Oscars.

When she heard she had been nominated, Bullock promised she would do her best to attend the ceremony in person, should she accept. Said and done: on Saturday night, the star was at the ceremony for her acceptance speech, bringing DVDs of the film that got her the distinction, “All About Steve,” and an offer for a deal with those who voted, as the video embedded at the bottom of this article will show.

“On Saturday, Bullock won an award for being the worst actress rather than the best. Taking top honor as the worst actress of the year at the Razzies award ceremony did not put a damper on this fun loving actress who also has a prestigious Academy Awards nomination. […] It is not every year an actor can say that they were the honored recipients of both Oscar and Razzie nominations. The Razzie event was held at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater. Accepting the dubious honor and award in person, Bullock turned with her grandest smiles, warmth and good humored nature,” Gather says.

“I think this is an extraordinary award. And I didn’t realize that, in Hollywood, all you had to do was say you’d show up, and then you’d get the award. If I’d known that, I would have said I was appearing at the Oscars a long time ago,” Bullock began her speech by saying. See the video below for all she had to say about her win. Enjoy.
