Even though they were supposed to already be available, Tiamat were delayed to January

Razer would have probably scored a few points with customers if it had managed to start shipping a certain pair of headsets, but it looks like hopefuls will have to live with disappointment.

Since this is the time of the year when people put presents underneath trees, headsets like the Tiamat 7.1 and Tiamat 2.2 could have been just the thing for some people.

Unfortunately, despite initial plans, Razer has proven unable to get the products ready to ship in time for the holidays.

Originally, it had every intention of doing this, but the latest announcement on its part was one that dashed all hopes for it.

The company wanted to put some finishing touches on them, so it kept them in the lab for a while more.

Now, they will only reach buyers in January, 2012, along with a palpable apology of sorts.

More precisely, the gaming peripheral maker will be shipping a free Razer T-Shirt and a Razer flask (total worth of $40) to all customers that add their names to the Notify Me list at the Tiamat microsite, located here.

“Rest assured this product is coming out soon, but as we get ready to ship, we are also putting final touches to perfect this headset. We want to be sure that what you get is going to blow your ears away, no holds barred, and unfortunately like all Razer products, it's ready when it's ready,” says a message from Team Razer.

The Tiamat 2.2 has four built-in drivers and features a price of $99.99 in the US and 99.99 Euro in Europe (alas, exchange rates fail to be reflected once again).

As for the Tiamat 7.1, it comes with a shattering set of 10 drivers and has a price tag of $179.99 / 179.99 Euro.

Both should prove immersing when playing games, be they strategies, shooters, RPGs, action titles or whatever else.
