Unfortunately, previous, hopeful plans have been dashed

If anyone was hoping for a shiny new, powerful gaming notebook by Christmas, they will have probably looked at other things besides Razer's Blade by now.

After all, though the company intended to have it ship in time for the holidays, it failed to deliver on its intentions.

In fact, it appears that no hopeful customer will see the Blade up close before the year is out, and not for a while afterwards either.

It was back near the start of the month when we reported how Razer had prepared the Blade with a Christmas ETA.

The lack of a pre-order page on the website was the first clue that something was wrong.

Now, a message sent via Facebook shows that, since the company decided to replace the HDD of the machine with an SSD, it failed to secure enough of those SSDs.

Thus, it is forced to push back the launch date to January, 2012.

“Because we managed to upgrade the HDD to an SSD at the eleventh hour, we were only able to secure quantities of the new SSDs to arrive at our manufacturing facilities at the last minute and as a result, we will not be able to fulfil our initial launch orders of the Razer Blade before the holidays,” said Razer's Co-Founder, CEO and Creative Director of Razer Min-Liang Tan.

“We expect to be able to ship our initial quantities of the Razer Blade only in mid to late January for our customers in North America. We will be doing everything humanly possible to bring this date forward if we can.”

The company isn't just going to do nothing for those who want the machine, however.

In fact, in what is probably one of the most generous displays of forthrightness, Razer is going to let customers sign up for notifications and will offer coupons for free Razer Orochi Blade Edition gaming mice as well.
