Razer, like any other IT player, periodically updates its product lines, but sometimes it just comes out and reveals a device that has an advantage over all of its peers, and the BlackWidow and BlackWidow Ultimate look to be the latest such releases, thanks to their tactile mechanical key architecture.

The company unveiled its new creations at Gamescom as alternatives to the standard mechanical keyboards that have stiff keys capable of causing key actuation fatigue.

What Razer tried to accomplish is make a peripheral capable of providing a good tactile feedback, similar to a mouse click, while also enhancing precision.

This is managed by means of a 'unique' key actuation point located halfway through the full travel distance.

The BlackWidow and BlackWidow Ultimate also have fully programmable keys, in addition to five gaming-dedicated buttons, as well as on-the-fly macro recording.

Other specifications of the two newcomers include a 1ms response time, USB connectivity, a Gaming mode and, on the Ultimate, audio and microphone out jacks, plus an illumination system with 5 levels of lighting.

"The Razer BlackWidow is the world's first mechanical keyboard that has been engineered from ground up for gaming," said Robert 'Razerguy' Krakoff, president of Razer.

"Imagine every single key on the keyboard with the precision of a mouse click - no more pressing of keys without knowing for certain if they have been actuated. Precision clicking coupled with an optimized lighter key actuation force, this changes the way gamers will play from now on," he went on to saying.

As it often happens with official announcements, the Razer BlackWidow and BlackWidow ultimate have not yet become available.

Still, end-users won't have to wait long, since shipments will start in September, by which time those interested will be able to save up the respective sums of $79.99 (79.99 Euro) and $129.99 (129.99 Euro).
