Over the weekend, the 2012 Billboard Awards took place. They also included a Whitney Houston tribute and, it would seem, plenty of drama between the singer's family and her lover at the time of her death, Ray J. He's now in hospital because of it.

Pat Houston, Whitney's manager and sister-in-law, wanted to have Ray J removed from his seat near the family because she held him responsible for some of the issues that contributed to her death.

Ray didn't move and Pat eventually had to let him be for the rest of the awards gala, as we also informed you yesterday.

However, all this drama worsened Ray's condition, since he was already exhausted, TMZ implies. He was rushed to the hospital the next day after the awards show.

“We're told Ray J was extremely upset after his confrontation with Whitney Houston's family – notably Pat Houston – during the awards ceremony. On Monday morning, someone went into Ray J's hotel room and realized the singer was 'out of it' and couldn't get out of bed,” the celebrity e-zine writes.

“We're told Ray J was extremely disoriented and was immediately taken to the hospital by ambulance,” TMZ further notes.

His condition had nothing to do with substance abuse, it would seem.

“It's looking like a combo of exhaustion and dehydration. Ray J had just returned from a quick, 32-hour round trip to China for business and when he landed he immediately drove 4 hours to Las Vegas for the awards show,” adds the same report.

As of now, Ray remains hospitalized and there's no word on when he might be released.

In a statement to the press, a publicist for Pat Houston has denied the so-called “incident,” saying it was her assistant who tried to have Ray moved to another seat – but only because organizers had instructed her so.
