Reality star and stuntman Ray Dunn, known for his role on MTV’s “Jackass” and many of its spinoffs, was killed yesterday morning in a car crash. Speed was definitely a factor, investigators say: he was driving at about 130 MPH. When news broke of the crash, some ventured a guess as to what may have caused, hinting that speed and alcohol could have contributed to it, especially since Dunn was seen downing beers and shots just hours before.
Speed was named a factor from the start – and now investigators can confirm it,
Radar Online informs.
“After an accident reconstruction, Police Chief Michael Carroll told Radar Online that the Porsche 911 was going ‘about 130 mph’ when the accident happened,” the e-zine writes.
Carroll says that the impact was so powerful that chances are good Dunn and the other passenger killed in the crash, Zachary Hartwell, died before the car caught fire.
“I’ve never seen a car destroyed in an automobile accident the way this car was even before it caught on fire,” the Police Chief says.
“The automobile actually came apart. It was unbelievable and I’ve been on a lot of fatal accident scenes. This is by far the worst I’ve ever seen,” Carroll explains.
For the time being, though, police are not deeming the crash a “DUI” as they’re waiting for the toxicology results to confirm if, indeed, Dunn was drunk when he got behind the wheel.
As we also
informed you yesterday, the crash involved just one vehicle: Dunn’s Porsche, which was left unrecognizable after the explosion, as the second photo attached to this article will undoubtedly confirm.
Because of the speed he was going at, when the car hit the guardrail, it was tossed off the road for many meters, and then exploded.
Dunn and Hartwell were dead when the ambulance arrived on the scene, with sources close to the investigation telling
TMZ they must have surely died a “very violent death.”
