Children who were playing on a London playground on Saturday were terrified when a swarm of “really big” rats suddenly appeared near the slides and swings, forcing them to run away.

Apparently, about ten rodents were seen chasing the kids on the Regent’s Park Estate in Camden. Scared parents rushed to save their children from the rats that were apparently forced to get out of nearby bushes by a dog.

“Everyone was petrified. The rats seemed to be going straight at the children. There was a lot of screaming and three had to be rescued from the top of the slide,” witness Joan Simpson says, according to Camden New Journal.

Residents who live in the area say this is not the first time they see the pests on the nearby Regent’s Park Estate, and that the area has been plagued by vermin for months. They fear that the animals could carry diseases and they are concerned that they would soon get into their block’s corridors and flats.

“The rats are on the swings and slides, and I have seen really large ones running around the bottom of Stanhope Street. If I look out the window and into the car park on the estate, I can see them running around – they’re that big,” one concerned resident who asked not to be named adds.
