Rare, the famous developer of iconic franchises and games like Banjo Kazooie or GoldenEye, believes gamers don't really want remakes to those classic titles, although it does have plenty of ideas after it's done with Kinect Sports Rivals.

The gaming industry back in the 1990s was dominated by quite a few different video game developers and Rare, or Rareware, as it was called back then, was one of the best, bringing the likes of Banjo Kazooie, GoldenEye, Killer Instinct, or Donkey Kong Country.

Since then, even with the acquisition of Rare by Microsoft, many gamers are hopeful about remakes for those classic titles.

Unfortunately for them, current Rare boss Craig Duncan believes that's not what they really want.

"We're not going to go and remake the same game, which I think when people comment is what they say they want. But I'm not sure it's really what they want," Duncan told GameSpot.

Rare in the last few years has worked only on Kinect games and will soon debut Kinect Sports Rivals next month.

Even so, Duncan has emphasized that his team has plenty of different concepts and projects in early development and will soon choose from them what it will release next.

"We're about to put new teams together for new projects beyond Kinect Sports Rivals, so we definitely have things we feel pretty good about," he said.

"From a creative point of view, we've always got a number of ideas that we're bubbling around, and it's really about picking the right one for the right time in the industry. Look at where trends are going. Where do we think the industry is going, where do we think Microsoft platforms are going?"

Duncan has also noted that releasing the Kinect games helped the studio stay open for business and continue exploring innovative ideas on the backburner.

"If we can't do something creatively that's different to what's been done before, and what I can say with Kinect Sports Rivals is, the reason we did that is we could go and do a load of things creatively that we hadn't done before, and no-one else had done, so I can justify that it's the right thing for a studio to do."

Kinect Sports Rivals is looking pretty good and might finally convince some skeptics about the Xbox One and its Kinect sensor, especially since rumors about a Kinect-less console are floating around the Internet nowadays.
