This NASA image shows the shuttle Enterprise – the only orbiter that has never actually flown to space – sailing past the Statue of Liberty, in New York, atop a large barge. The vessel was heading towards West Side Pier 84, in Manhattan.

The photo was snapped on Wednesday, June 6. The test shuttle has since arrived at its final exhibition site, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, accompanied by the gazed of hundreds of onlookers.

A crane carried on the barge (not pictured) was then used to hoist the massive vehicle onto the main deck of the Intrepid, which is a decommissioned World War II aircraft carrier. The procedure took a few hours to complete.

The only shuttle that remains to be transported over a long distance is Endeavour, which will be sent to Los Angeles' California Science Center later this year.
