The Wildlife Conservation Society's Queens Zoo is now home to a 2-year-old Andean bear named Bouba. Before being transferred to this sanctuary, the bear lived at a zoo in France.

Apparently, Bouba only agreed to say goodbye to his friends and travel all the way to the US because he was promised that, upon arrival at Queens Zoo, he would get to meet a very special lady by the name Spangles.

Luckily for the Andean bear, he got exactly what he was promised.

The Wildlife Conservation Society tells us that the two bears now share an enclosure and that, should things go as planned, they will soon fall madly in love with one another and start a family.

Seeing how the International Union of Conservation of Nature presently considers this species to be in danger of becoming extinct, it would be great if Bouba and Spangles had many offspring.

“Bouba’s energy will make him a star. He represents an important addition to the Andean bear breeding program among zoos in the United States,” said Scott Silver, animal curator and director of the Queens Zoo.
