eBay is auctioning a true piece of Apple history - a Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh, or "TAM", in pristine condition, that’s currently fetching $5,501 after a total of 27 bids.

Existing in very limited numbers, the Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh was introduced in the spring of 1997 and sold for $7,499.

It was Jony Ive’s first major project with Apple, marking his debut as the company’s designing guru for years to come.

It is known that Apple only made 12,000 of these computers. but had a release run of 11,601. The remaining 399 were kept for spare parts.

The unit sold on eBay at the moment comes with framed copies of the original purchase receipts, according to its seller.

The system will arrive to whomever will win the bid in one large box, with four smaller boxes inside. These will contain the accessories, the keyboard, the  system itself and the subwoofer.

“It is not uncommon to see parts of a used TAM for sale on eBay or elsewhere, [but] rarely is a complete system with all original accessories and packaging, and a new sealed system is unheard of,” the seller stresses.

“Don't miss out on a chance to own a genuine piece of Apple history!!!”, he adds.
