Actress is a breathtaking red carpet appearance at AMPAS event
Raquel Welch might be 73 years old but she can put to shame many actresses half her age when it comes to looking stylish, absolutely impeccable on any red carpet. Proof of that is her appearance the other night at the 2013 Governors Awards.Included with this article are two photos of the stunning actress at the event, which was presented by the AMPAS and was held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom of the Hollywood and Highland Center.
We don’t have an ID on the designer she was wearing yet but this much is clear: that golden rule about how you should never wear red on the red carpet or risk barely being noticed doesn’t apply to Raquel, because she wore red and was one of the most beautifully dressed (and just plain beautiful) ladies of the night.
Everything about her, from the low-cut and body-hugging red dress, to the hair and the makeup, and the way she carried herself was absolute perfection, proving to the world that the phrase “timeless elegance” isn’t just empty words.
Of course, we could argue that she’s had help from plastic surgeons, nutritionists, and personal trainers, and that she has the money and the time to look this good, but there would probably be no point to this exercise, even if true.
The bottom line is that, at 73, Raquel is a gorgeous and graceful, unspeakably elegant woman, one who could set an example to all those 20- and 30-year-olds who are already getting injections and plastic surgery, and who think that “fashion” is all about the absence of clothes.
That is hardly ever the case.
Raquel also posed with Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie’s father. He was there because, during the ceremony, Jolie was presented with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her work, an honorary Oscar to celebrate her undying commitment to and support of humanitarian causes.
Ms. Welch did not, however, pose on the red carpet with her rumored fiancé Nigel Lythgoe. They could be trying to prevent rumors about an impeding wedding from surfacing again, though the television mogul has already denied them on his Twitter.
