Rapper Young Jeezy was arrested early Friday morning in Miami. The 28-year-old rapper was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
Young Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, and a group of friends were involved in an altercation on Friday. A member of his group asked a witness who was videotaping the incident to hand over the camera, but the man refused. Since the man would not give up the video camera, a member of Young Jeezy's group reportedly started firing shots.
A few minutes later, the group of nine people left the scene in two SUVs. When police caught up to the vehicles, they found a semi-automatic gun under Young Jeezy's seat and another gun between his seat and the armrest. The alleged shooter, 28-year-old Kariem Raheem, was also taken into custody. Two other members of the rapper's group were arrested due to previous charges.
In a statement, Young Jeezy's attorney said, "He adamantly denies any weapons recovered were his, and we are confident that he will be vindicated."
