Rapper Waka Flocka Flame has thrown his name in the running for US President in the 2016 elections. In a profanity-laden announcement video for Rolling Stone, the 28-year-old outlines his platform, announces his running mate and singles out Hillary Clinton as his only “real competition.”

In a follow-up video, the rapper stresses that his presidential announcement wasn’t a joke; he even hit the streets in New York getting signatures for his ballot. His papers putting his name in the race went out on 4/20, or what Waka Flocka calls “the best day of the year.”

Education, women’s rights and restrictions against big-footed people

The announcement video is available at the link in the first paragraph. Waka Flocka talks about his platform in general terms, touching on hot topics like women’s rights, education, his running mate, Congress and raising minimum wage.

The way he sees it, women’s rights are right where they should be: he believes the issue is now more one of respect than of rights, because he thinks women have just as many rights as men today in the US.

Feminists campaigning for equal wages and the fight against discrimination in the workplace would disagree.

The rapper says Hillary Clinton is his only real rival because she has the support of women and of those who backed her husband, former US Prez Bill Clinton.

Waka Flocka plans to raise minimum wage, to put more focus on education (teaching useful skills and the lyrics to his songs in schools is a must), and to ban suits from Congress. Everyone should dress casually.

He also takes issue with allowing animals (pets) in restaurants: when he’s elected President, he will ban all animals from places where people get food. He will also ban those who have large feet from “occupying” too much space on the cement, passing a law to force them to travel by public or private transport from point A to point B.

Legalizing marijuana

There’s a reason Waka Flocka calls 4/20 the best day of the year, as his first measure as President of the United States will be to legalize marijuana.

Everything is better with pot, he says in the video.

“A blunt a day will take the pain away,” he says. “You wake up, hit a blunt, go to work, you go to work, [expletive] will be okay. You look around, things ain’t looking good, you roll the blunt, [expletive] going to be okay. School work getting too hard? Don’t touch the blunt. Think about it. Wait ’till you get old enough.”

From the second video posted over at Rolling Stone, it seems like he’s already getting plenty of support: people are showing a mixture of excitement and amused disbelief at the news that he’s running for Prez. Hey, if Arnold Schwarzenegger could become Governor, why can’t a rapper become President?

As a final note, candidates must be over 35 to be eligible in the Presidential elections. Waka Flocka is 28: he might be serious about his campaign, but he’s doomed from the start.
