Rapper T.I., real name Clifford Harris Jr. and wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle were both arrested the other day on suspicion of marijuana possession. Upon inspection, police officers found a controlled substance in their car, believed to have been ecstasy.

Both were handcuffed and taken to the police stations, where they were booked on possession charges, People magazine reports. They walked on a $10,000 bail a few hours later.

“Rapper T.I. and his wife were released on $10,000 bail early Thursday morning after their arrests on drug possession charges in West Hollywood,” the magazine writes.

Police reports say that cops pulled over T.I.’s Maybach during a traffic stop on Sunset Boulevard and smelled marijuana coming from it.

Upon investigation of the car, they also found a controlled substance, TMZ also says, who had photographers on the scene at the time the arrest took place.

“During a subsequent search of the vehicle, cops say they found a controlled substance – we’re told it was not cocaine. The class of the controlled substance that was found includes methamphetamines and ecstasy,” TMZ reports.

The reason why this arrest could possibly complicate things for T.I. in unimaginable ways is the fact that he’s currently on probation following an earlier arrest on gun charges (and a subsequent jail sentence).

In March last year, a judge sentenced the rapper to one year and one day in prison on weapon charges, following his arrest in October 2007.

One year later – that is, in March this year, – the star was a free man again, but he still remained on probation for the same charge. Now, authorities are looking to determine whether the recent arrest consists parole violation.

“Federal officials are ‘in the process’ of determining if they will try to revoke T.I.’s probation in the wake of his arrest late last night,” TMZ writes.

“The probation office is in the process of determining what happened and will make a recommendation regarding Mr. Harris when they have all the facts,” United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates says.

Should authorities come to the conclusion that the rapper was in violation of parole, he may be facing serious hard time, the same media outlet also notes.
