Not long ago, multi-award winning actor Joaquin Phoenix announced that he would no longer be pursuing a career in movies, opting instead for one in music. Since then, much has been heard of said crossover but, even so, nothing is yet official. However, that is not stopping all sorts of reports from surfacing, one of which has Joaquin as a real “diva” that people can hardly work with.

Over the weekend, Phoenix performed at a club in Las Vegas in what was considered his debut as a rapper. Although reportedly working under the guidance of Diddy, who has considerable experience in helping aspiring singers get their moment in the spotlight, Joaquin’s performance was disastrous, as fans and critics alike have called it. His Vanilla Ice-esque rapping skills, and the clothes and attitude that would have done justice to a homeless man were held as the strong points of the night. That, and a diva fit he threw before the “gig,” news reports say.

According to gossip blogger Perez Hilton, before Joaquin took the stage, a very awkward moment took place. He was waiting for director Casey Affleck, who was reportedly shooting a documentary of his foray into the music industry, and got extremely angry when he was late, “flipping out” in front of everybody. “Thanks for being late and [expletive] everything up,” the actor turned rapper reportedly yelled at Affleck, after which he threw a CD on the floor and stormed out.

Admittedly, Joaquin came to his senses shortly after that, and “came back five minutes later and did the sound check,” as the unnamed source tells the blogger. “Nobody can tell if he is for real, or if this is all a big joke.” the same insider continues. In all fairness, the spy’s words come to join the many voices that are already saying that what Phoenix and Affleck are actually doing is a mockumentary in the manner of Sacha Baron Cohen.

Be that as it may, the actor’s performance over the weekend certainly did get tongues wagging, so, whichever might turn out to be the case, chances are people are going to be interested in the product he will eventually put out. Below is the video of the Las Vegas gig.
