“I was not drunk or on drugs,” just irresponsible, rapper says

Out of all the things rapper George Watsky could have thought would do great if done live, during a show, he picked a stage dive from a lighting rig, from a height of 35 feet (10 meters). The stunt landed him and two other people in the hospital, and he’s unsurprisingly remorseful about it.

You can see the very poorly-inspired stage dive in the video embedded below. It happened at the Alexandra Place in London over the weekend, during a performance part of the Warped Tour event.

The fans in the mosh pit were initially thrilled at whatever he was doing (because he didn’t seem to have warned them of what would follow), and they cheered him on as he climbed the ladder to the lighting rig.

The only warning anyone got of the stage dive that was about to happen was when he threw his cap in the exact spot he planned on landing in. Panic and concern spread among the fans as they realized he wasn’t getting up after the dive.

“It was stupid and wildly irresponsible, plain and simple,” Watsky says, as cited by MSN. That is probably an understatement considering that, in the fall, he broke a woman’s arm and injured another guy.

“I have no excuse for my actions, and the only way I can explain my mindset is that it was a huge overreach in the heat of the moment. No, I was not drunk or on drugs... I feel [expletive]-ing terrible,” the San Francisco rapper continues.

“I made a boneheaded decision that got people hurt, and it's extremely lucky it wasn't worse... I am deeply sorry and I promise to learn from this mistake,” Watsky adds.

He too was rushed to the hospital but was let go some hours later with scratches and bruises. No word yet on how his victims are feeling or, for that matter, if they’re considering suing him for such criminal recklessness.
