Rapper DMX has gotten himself on the wrong side of the law again. Just hours ago, he was arrested at a gas station in South Carolina for driving without a license, but fans should fret not because he’s already been released.

The star, who already has an impressive rap sheet, including time served, pulled up at the gas station to refuel. He tells Fox Carolina that he also had his 5-month-old daughter in the car with him.

A police car was already on the scene, having been summoned there on a separate case. The officers saw DMX (real name Earl Simmons) and followed him out of the gas station.

If you ask DMX – which Fox Carolina did the moment he was released from custody at the Spartanburg County jail – this whole mess could have been solved on the spot, they didn’t have to bring him in front of a judge for it.

He paid the fine and was done with it, he says.

“They watched me at the gas station and get in the car. They followed me around the corner, pulled me over, put the cuffs on me and brought me here,” the 42-year-old rapper says.

“I paid the money, when I could have just paid the money right there on the spot. Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing. I don't have a court date or a court appearance,” he adds.

Since he was released from jail, DMX has been keeping a low profile, though, every once in a while, he does make headlines, sometimes for the wrong reasons.

Last June, for instance, videos of him looking completely spaced-out and slurring his words during a club promo appearance immediately went viral, prompting concern among fans that he was using again – and about to get himself in trouble.
