On October 4th, the rapper was involved in a very serious accident, leaving him in a critical condition and with all his friends, relatives and fans praying for his health. Cassidy was a passenger in a SUV that was heading towards a studio in Yonkers, New York, where he was working on his third album, due to come out any time now.
A truck hit the car in which the young star was sideways, sending it into traffic. Following the tragic crash that involved many other vehicles, the rapper was rushed to a nearby hospital, whose location remains a secret, for treatment and investigations.
Although he can breathe without any help, Barry Reese (his real name), is suffering from a fractured skull and multiple broken bones in the left side of his face. The doctors performed a CAT scan on him and discovered that his brain activity is normal and none of the rest of the concussions he has are considered life-threatening. Nevertheless, his condition remains critical.
In a phone interview with MTV News, Cassidy's friend and close collaborator, Swizz Beatz said: 'Cass is like my brother, and this has been such a rough year for him. We're all praying and staying positive during this time. Thanks to everyone for their continuing support, and please keep Cassidy and his family in your prayers'.
Cassidy was released from prison in March, where he served eight months on the charge of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault for a 2005 shoot-out. His third album is currently in the final stage and will be released later this year.
