Wi-Fi technology is usually employed in the transfer of Internet and networked data, but every so often a peripheral will emerge that uses this sort of wireless waves to connect to and control PCs from afar. The Rapoo E9070 Wireless keyboard is an example of this.

Well, technically, the product is called E9070 Wireless Ultra-Slim Keyboard, and the name alone should be enough to clue people in regard to what the main assets are.

Obviously, the 2.4 GHz wireless radio is one of them, with its range of around 10 meters if what we guess is true.

The very thin profile is another thing. According to the press release, the newcomer measures only 5.6 mm at its thinnest part.

Then, there's the scissor key structure, which makes typing more comfortable than on keyboards, where the buttons are all perfectly aligned.

Furthermore, the function control keys are narrower than usual, since they are so rarely used. A clear contrast to normal keyboards, where they are separated from the rest by a fair big gap. As if they are framed apart.

Speaking of the Fn keys, they also integrate the multimedia functionality normal for mid-range keyboards now. There are controls for audio playback, volume adjustment, Internet browsing, etc. Just be sure to press the Fn switch to change from one to the other.

That said, the Rapoo E9070 Wireless Ultra-Slim Keyboard has an integrated battery that can last for up to 24 months on a single charge. It's pretty amazing really. The battery had to be really thin in order to fit the mold, yet still it can squeeze out that much time.

As for the nano receiver, it is small enough that you can plug it inside a USB port and forget about it. You might need to let your nails grow out, however, if you like to travel from one place to another and prefer to take your keyboard with you for whatever reason.

Granted, the E9070 Wireless Ultra-Slim Keyboard isn't supposed to be a mobile peripheral, but its size and light weight mean that it is better qualified for such things than many others. On the flip side, if you own a notebook, you can plug and forget the receiver and always hold the keyboard in the same carry bag as the laptop itself.

Rapoo E9070 Wireless Ultra-Slim Keyboard should be up for sale online and through various retailers, like Walmart, for $39.99 / €28.66.
