Nexpose and Metasploit Pro are Rapid7 tools used by many IT security professionals. To enable security experts to demonstrate that they’re skilled when it comes to using these solutions, Rapid7 has launched certification programs for Nexpose administrators and Metasploit Pro specialists.

Those who have taken part in the Nexpose certification program pilot say they’ve learned a lot. Jamil Hightower, information security analyst at Rodale, says he has established a new vulnerability management process which makes it easier for management to understand the organization’s security risks.

“Certifications go hand-in-hand with the continual growth required to be a professional in the information security field and can make the difference between two equally qualified candidates,” noted Louis Sanchez, network system specialist at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

“From that perspective, the Metasploit Pro Specialist Certification is a great way to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with Metasploit. After having taken it, I’d definitely recommend it to my peers and will also update my social profile to display the certification.”

Rapid7 believes that the new certifications are beneficial not only for security experts, but also for managers. That’s because they can ensure that the IT security staff is properly trained in handling all aspects of Rapid7 solutions. Furthermore, hiring managers can determine if prospective employees are suited for a role in the organization’s IT security team.

Testing is available immediately as part of Rapid7 Professional Services.
