In the past period we have learned that a number of large security solutions providers started acquiring smaller companies in order to enhance their service portfolios. Rapid 7 is following the trend by acquiring Mobilisafe, a mobile risk management provider based in Seattle.

This move will allow Rapid 7 to expand its security risk management portfolio to cover mobile devices and, implicitly, the threats posed by the ever-growing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend.

Existing solutions such as Metasploit and Nexpose allow organizations to assess threats and take action against them, but with Mobilisafe’s cloud-based solution that’s specially designed to address the issues posed by BYOD, Rapid 7’s products can be enhanced to cover a wider base.

Mobilisafe’s mobile risk management solution offers visibility into the devices utilized by employees, identifies the potential security risks, and defines and deploys policies that enable companies to mitigate the risks.

Firms interested in this product can test it for free for a period of 14 days. Then, if they like it, they can purchase it for $24 (18 EUR) per user per year, or for $3 (2.3 EUR) per user per month.
