Ransomware is usually designed to earn money for its masters by forcing victims into paying a so-called “fine” in order to have their computers unlocked, or their data decrypted.

However, a new type of ransomware doesn’t ask for money directly. Instead, it forces victims to take part in a survey that’s linked to pay-per-download (PPD) or cost-per-action (CPA) affiliate networks.

According to Webroot’s Dancho Danchev, the ransomware is advertised on hacker forums as being “a software that locks the computer of your slaves and forces them to do your survey.”

The ransomware works on all Windows operating systems, and it’s capable of disabling the task manager, the command prompt, the registry editor and the start menu.

The seller of this ransomware accepts Bitcoins.
