Gamers could also get a third game in the strategy title

Randy Pitchford, the leader of the development team at Gearbox, says that the investment in the High Definition remakes of the first two Homeworld games have required more resources than the company expected, which results in impressive quality for players to experience.

He is quoted by NeoGAF as saying that, “We went nuts in the high-definition treatment on this. It's really UHD, not just HD. That's too low. We got with the original audio guys and remastered all the audio. It's really impressive.”

Gamers who have the latest in terms of graphics cards will be able to experience effects and visuals that are traditionally linked to next-gen consoles.

If the Homeworld remakes manage to sell well on launch, Gearbox might consider working on a full sequel for the space strategy series.

The two games currently do not have an official launch date and will be offered via digital distribution.
