The Boston Marathon explosions have left a dent in the spirit of the town but more and more people are trying to help.
According to Today, a Random Acts of Pizza (RAOP) forum has been set up on Reddit, giving users a chance to contribute and send over food to local hospitals where staff is tending to those wounded in the blasts.
As I wrote yesterday, more than 141 runners and bystanders have been injured in the explosions, some of whom have incurred amputations. Three people died, including an 8-year-old boy and a 29-year-old woman.
Over 1,500 pizzas have been sent out to clinics, as well as firehouses, police stations and volunteer outposts as part of the RAOP initiative.
“I love to cook. [...] If all I can do to help is feed people, that’s what I’ll do,” says Perry Silveira, at Anytime Pizza in Cambridge, handling a large portion of the orders.
