Ralph Fiennes has recently declared he has some regrets about having starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in the romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan.
The 42-year-old actor has also taken into consideration that the movie might not be well received by the critics.
Fiennes has accepted to play Lopez's love interest in the film, as part of an experiment to see if he could handle a simpler role.
"Maid In Manhattan was thin on the page and even thinner in the flesh. There was nothing there except to be the fantasy for the Jennifer Lopez character. But I felt I'd always gravitated towards parts with a lot of angst or intensity to conflict - even if that's not how I see them, that's how they're picked up", the British star said.
"I suppose I wanted to see if I could play a blithe, uncomplicated role. And I don't know that I can do it.", Fiennes added.
The actor, who stars in The Constant Gardener, opposite Rachel Weisz, will next be seen in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", directed by Mike Newell.
The "Red Dragon" star, who was not very familiar with the Harry Potter series (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), admitted that he was persuaded to accept the role of Lord Voldemort after having seen the drawings for the costume.
"I wrestled with it a bit because I didn't know the world of Harry Potter. Then after thinking about it I just thought it was a full-on, meaty villain, baddy.
I've done realistic villains but something in that fantastical realm, children's realm, the dark Lord; I hadn't really done that before.
When I saw some pictures that they drew for the look (of the character) that's when I took the bait. I thought it looked really cool. I think I'm doing the next one where I have a big fight with DUMBLEDORE", the British actor confessed.
