If there's one thing that you can't say about 'American Idol' is that it's not full of surprises, be them good or bad. Just looking at the last edition of the popular talent competition, you can, from the first glance, see that its formula was almost complete: it had scandal (Paula Abdul and her alleged drunk tirades), scandalous contestants (Sanjaya and his many wigs/hairdos) and lots and lots of funny moments (remember that guy who asked for Simon Cowell's US work permit?).

Now, in a weird twist of events, 'American Idol' brings you something new and that, honestly, has never been done before: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Celine Dion and... Elvis Presley! Yes, I know that he is dead for 30 years but that doesn't mean that 'AI' producers can't bring him back to life... or at least something like it.

Sources who went to the taping for the show scheduled to air on Wednesday tell TMZ that Celine Dion has already been to rehearsals, where she sang a duet with an Elvis impersonator. The tune of choice was 'If I Can Dream' but this is not all. More than 'in the vein of Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable"', insiders claim that the producers will beam on stage a virtual Elvis (a hologram, that is) who will sing with Celine. That means that the Elvis impersonator was just a stand-in. Poor fella!

The host of the show, Ryan Seacrest, has teased the public a while ago saying that the 'Idol Gives Back' edition will hold many surprises for the fans. 'Two of the biggest stars in musical history will come together. This duet will have to be seen to be believed'. Well, I guess we'll just have to see it to believe it, won't we? But there's more: all the 'American Idol' contestants from this season will also join the two megastars on stage, as a backup choir.

The event, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will also feature Gwen Stefani, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley and Annie Lennox and former 'Idol' winners, such as Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. 'Idol Gives Back', the two-hour special, is meant to raise awareness and money to fight poverty in the US and Africa.
